This centre is devoted to providing the keen beginner builder with a thorough and professional training in a safe, quiet and happy environment.
The Ezi Bild method of self-paced Learn-to-Build tutorials will give you the best grounding possible. You need to be patient and work through the basics in a methodical and careful way, without wanting to just launch into creating things... you may be developing bad habits that are difficult to overcome later on. But you can take your time as you go through the tutorials and make sure you understand every step. After all you are not wasting a persons time; you are communicating with a computer (script).
The Tutorials are in the area opposite the Information Kiosk. There is a row of private cubicles on each side. Go to a free cubicle, click to receive the Information/Instructions on the box with the Information icon, then click on the tutorial you wish to view and practice. If you are a total beginner, start with the first four tutorials on the board, shown with the building icon. Work through these and practice all before continuing to real builds. The 6 Easy Objects gives you a great head start to actual build projects. Practical Building Techniques (with the purple), has a lot of content and you will need to use this constantly for Reference. You may purchase this if you wish to have it on hand. All of the free to view tutorials can be purchased if you prefer to build at home. They are all available from the vendor on the wall - click the cover to reveal the vendor.
YOU MUST BE A MEMBER OF THE HAPPY HIPPSTER GROUP IN ORDER TO BUILD HERE. There are join boards on the wall right where you arrived and elsewhere in the school.
We have two groups:
- HAPPY HIPPSTERS: This tag is needed to build in the Tutorial cubicles and attend all classes (all free).
- HAPPY HIPPO Building Club: Access to all of the facilities, including the Builders' Den and a private sandbox.
There is a staff online board near the Ezi_Bild Cubicles, and if you are having any problems or have questions, please IM a staff member who is showing as being available (green light). You will need to walk close to see the names.
When you have completed the free tutorials you may want to attend some of our group classes, or if you prefer to work alone, at your own pace, you can purchase, at extremely low cost, a range of intermediate tutorials, especially larger projects, from the vendor on the wall in each cubicle. Each of these purchased tutorials has its own screen, for easy viewing. We also have a new area of pay-per-view terminals for large builds.
Group Classes
Whilst there may be a lull from time to time, we try to maintain a reasonably busy class schedule with a variety of highly professional teachers and a variety of subjects covering both BEGINNER as well as INTERMEDIATE levels.The classes are held in our Indoor Classroom, Outdoor Classroom, or sometimes in the Beach Classroom outside the school. All classes are listed on the board at the front door of the school, in the middle of the free tutorial area, in each classroom and sandbox, and elsewhere throught the school, and also on this website, the Blog and the Forum. Additionally, they are all announced via Group Notices. Please make sure you have "receive notices" checked in the Group window.
