I have not heard of Wings 3D before now, but it is listed on the
Second Life Wiki Page as being a Free 3D Modeling Software package that works with SL, and there are numerous
tutorials that are specific to making sculpties.
Hello dj,
Yesterday, I downloaded the manual, and both versions of the software, to check out, one a beta version.
The software works great on my XP Pro OS, and the manual is informative, have not checked out the beta as of yet.
But, I believe it would take a bit of playing around with the application to really get a hold of its functionality, means getting ones hands dirty for a time in order to create great sculpties.
Brings one back to the just trying one program after the other to find a comfort zone to stick with in making sculpties.

For ease and simplicity one cant go past the free 'Sculptypaint'. There are some tutorials on this but one needs to search around on the web for them. This program was made especially for SL and the transfer of the finished sculpt textures nto SL is easy. Best to try it seeing its free - just google Sculptypaint!
The Sculpty Paint, Victoria recommended looks very promising for one to create simple sculpties to complicated right off the install.
However, you must upgrade to Java 1.6 and delete all earlier installments upon your machine before it will work.

Sculpties are something I would learn to learn, so if you figure them out, please teach me. I was very impressed by two classes I attended on Sculpt Studio, available on XStreet for L$4999 (or about $20).
ROKURO(lathe) (or Rokuro Pro) and TOKOROTEN(extruder) leave me completely confused, but here is a tutorial, and I have not tried Sculpty Paint but have heard good things about it.
As for the Sculpt Studio, it is a bit over a small budget if one wanted to spend the green backs to obtain. I have a friend who is currently using the program, or shall I say is still learning it, seems there are many steps to create a sculptie.
I downloaded Rokuro lathe, if you ever used a real machine lathe in real life, catching onto this applications shouldn't take to much time, but the strengths I see in this one is the creation of Columns for builds.
As for the Pro, I would not prob ... go that far... As for Tokoroten, I would have to agree with Professor Viper, appears to be just what he said.
